I'm fairly certain that couples who hire me understand that they can make their ceremony whatever they want it to be. I've performed some interesting requests: worn a kimono for a Gustav Klimt themed wedding, had an owl fly the rings to me for a wildlife themed wedding, and kept all kinds of secrets safe until the ceremony (I'll never tell....!). These were all fairly grand gestures.
You can also make the ceremony YOURS in more subtle ways: including a couple story, having a friend perform or do a reading, writing your own vows. Today, I got asked - for the first time - to pronounce the couple "husband and wife" and then shout "WHO DAT!" (they are rabid New Orleans Saints fans). Not only *will* I do this, I will *love* doing this. It made me smile to be asked! So, think about how you might want to personalize your ceremony. I'm game!
