When I moved to Texas from the East Coast in the mid 90s, I fell in love with many of the Mexican Traditions that came into my world. One of them "papel picado", the decorative craft of cut paper, I love in particular because it is a low price way to IMMEDIATELY brighten a space! A few years ago I bought some plastic papel picado cut outs for my patio and they held on for quite a while, always making me smile. It's time to buy some more, actually. Perhaps when my husband and I celebrate our 15th anniversary in San Antonio in May?
Recently, I've seen some cute incorporation of this technique in weddings. One particularly fab wedding, Yahitza & Laura's at Fischer Hall, had beautiful WHITE papel picado pieces strewn above the altar. A quick google took me to this site, where you can buy yours!
