Just think of me as your girlfriend: your girlfriend who has the power and ability to marry you. This past week I've had 2 panicked brides contact me on the day of their ceremony asking for a last minute favor. While I don't want to set a precedent of being an officiant / Girl Friday, I do want to point out that if you're one of my brides, I've got your back. One bride had a Rose Ceremony planned to honor their mothers, but they had no roses. She called me, begging me to go to the grocery to pick up "2 roses! Any color! We just need roses!". I asked her what color - in a perfect world - she would prefer (white) and told her I was on it. Not one to slack (I used to be a photo stylist, so I have a deep respect for aesthetics and I'm used to sourcing on the fly), I swung by Austin Flower Company after a morning rehearsal and got her exactly what she asked for: 2 perfect white roses, open *just* the right amount, with water tubes and wrapped for travel. Done. $2 and 10 minutes of my time and a VERY happy bride.
Just yesterday, I got a call at 11am from a distraught bride getting married in Austin at 2pm (!) who had left her bouquet in Dallas. Same deal: I can handle it, in a perfect world what would you want and how much are you willing to spend? Well, her colors were mint and gold and her original bouquet had succulents in it. With a quick call to Walton's Fancy & Staple (owned by Sandra Bullock! Indeed, fancy!), I pleaded the bride's case, described her vision, and gave a credit card number. 1 hour (!) later I had this magnificent creation! I like to think it was even better than the original.
I've also been called for last minute hair dryer loans, fake eyelash glue, you name it....
I'm pleased that my brides feel comfortable asking me for help. I am constantly reminded that, while this is my job (!), I get to be a part of somebody's "BEST DAY EVER" on a frequent basis. You can count on me to make it just that!
