I just performed a stunning wedding at Camp Waldemar in Hunt, Texas. This old school Texas girls' camp has picturesque stone buildings scattered along the Guadalupe River. It reminded me of a Wes Anderson movie. The wedding site was the above riverfront stone amphitheater. White candles in hurricane lanterns framed the walkway and created a ton of drama for the bride's entrance (which occurred right as the sun disappeared). There was a 20's themed cocktail hour on the river beforehand, with comfortable furniture scattered about the bank and a fun band from Austin called Chico Chico performing. There was also a beautiful candlelight dinner after the wedding. And, I'm told that prior to my arrival, there were events all weekend (guests were staying at the camp in cabins, so there were plenty of games and meals). It sounded like a real weekend of fun and camaraderie!
Now, this was a pricey weekend, I'm sure. But, I wanted to introduce the option of Hunt, Texas as a wedding location if you hadn't thought of it. My husband grew up going to Camp Rio Vista and I have friends with kids at Camp Mystic, Camp Stewart, Camp Honey Creek, and Heart o' the Hills Camp.
Plus, Crider's Rodeo and Dancehall, one of the coolest spots in Texas is RIGHT THERE! Bonus!
