I've always been a bit obsessed with Austin's own La Condesa. I used to drive by it on my way home and noted that their exterior stairs were the PERFECT shade of blue. And, they had they have the same awesome white and metal mid-century chairs on their patio that I have in my dining room. It was fated that we should be together!
See above for La Condesa blue! It's a visual feast - fab retro furniture, very inventive lighting, and this awesome mural made from discarded billboard posters.
First I fell in love with the aesthetic, then I fell in love with the margaritas! I just spent a girls weekend on Lake Travis and my friend Julie went to the effort to locate the La Condesa Margarita recipe and dutifully follow it ounce for ounce. Wow, that's a tasty drink! Recipe as follows:
La Clasica Margarita
- 1.5oz El Jimador Blanco
- .75oz Patron Citronage Orange Liqueur
- 1.25oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
- .5oz Organic Agave Nectar
- .5oz Filtered Water
My third, but possibly deepest phase of love with La Condesa, came when I tried the food. Let's just say they have a ceviche menu. Not just one kind but several, and seasonal. There's also this taco that has some sort of mushroom in it (can you tell I'm a not a foodie?!) that makes my mouth water just thinking about it. It's all delicious. Small plate, and not cheap, but delicious.
Why, you ask, is this relevant to my wedding business? Well, there are many components to La Condesa. There is a below ground private room called The Flour House, where you could have one heck of an intimate wedding or rehearsal dinner.
There is also a super hip bar upstairs called Malverde, where I am performing a patio wedding, overlooking downtown, this summer.
And, finally, what prompted this post is that I received an email from La Condesa today letting me know that they now operate a food trailer called Taco Time that can bring their goodness to YOU and your wedding!
Yes, Yes, Yes and YES!
