I met with this fun couple, Kelly and Mike, a few months ago. When I got into the nitty gritty of the "marriage license process", I told them that they could use a license from ANY county in Texas. Normally, people just go to the one nearest them, or the one where they think there won't be a wait. WELL, Kelly & Mike took this as a challenge and decided to make a project out of the license process. They wanted their marriage license to be from an *interesting* county in Texas. Which one did they pick? Loving County, Texas, (in the corner of the panhandle) of course! I heard from Kelly that they made the trek out there and back in one day and had a blast doing so. On a cool side note, Kelly heard from her dad, after the fact, that her grandfather (who started the Texas DPS licensing division back in the 30s) taught and tested for drivers licenses at this same courthouse back in the late 1930s. Even though he lived in Austin, West Texas was his “territory” and he went there frequently. What a happy coincidence, making the gesture even more poignant.
